My name is Tommaso Tosiani. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, from Italian parents in december 31 1957.
I am a chemist with a PhD in geochemistry. I worked in research and teaching at the Universidad Central de Venezuela until retirement in 2010. Making articles using metals has been a hobby for me. However, since I retired, I moved to Italy and transformed this hobby into a new, artistic and rewarding profession, where teaching, research and art combine harmoniously. My experience in Chemistry and Geochemistry allows me to develop and use techniques to work with metals, silicates, rocks, alloys, resins and combinations of them.
In 2011 I founded a cultural association (Bottega Scuola di Arti Orafe) with the goal to teach and share the metalsmith techniques. The craft in my workshop are manufactured entirely by hand, and were placed for sale at etsy.com.
I also offers metalsmith courses at affordable prices, usually are workshops which vary from 40-60 hours of training.
All this can help me to slightly solve the problem of we Venezuelans pensioners abroad, where our salary (in Venezuelan currency) is very difficult, controlled and limited to exchange it for foreign currency.
